About Us

We are Matthias, Lindsay, and little Emerald Handrich from North Carolina. God has led us to adopt a precious little guy from Eastern Europe and we are doing everything it takes to get him out of his orphanage and home with us! His fate is a short life in an adult mental institution...but, we are going to change that! We have to get him home and get him the surgery, medical care, and love he needs. That is going to cost somewhere around $25,000...a huge goal to us, but as we have seen, nothing for the BIG God we serve. We set up this blog to keep everyone posted on our progress. Timeline

March 1- Began praying about adopting Precious Little One
March 12- Found a social worker to complete our home study
~got birth certificates for Emerald, marriage licenses~
March 21- World Down Syndrome Day! Sent off for passports
March 22-First home study visit!
March 28- Sent out our support letters in faith!
March 31- Ordered 200 vivabeads bracelets to sell!
April 5-Our last home study visit! Now we are just waiting for our social worker to write it up!
April 21ish- Passports arrived!
May 4-Homestudy officially FINISHED!
Sent I600a (advance orphan petition) to USCIS
May 17-(Almost) fully funded!
May 19-Got our USCIS fingerprinting appointments.
May 20-Got fingerprinted (walked in early) and sent in a doctor's letter to expedite the approval time!
May 28-Got our I-171H
June 1-Got our state background checks
June 2-Got the last of our documents notarized
